2024/2025
Gulf Medical University (GMU) continues to advance its contribution to SDG 1 – No Poverty, reflecting its deep commitment to improving community welfare and supporting vulnerable populations. Through healthcare outreach, food donation drives, and community engagement activities, GMU fosters compassion, social responsibility, and sustainable well-being across society.
Health Campaigns
GMU organized a series of impactful health campaigns during the academic year 2024–2025 aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and community wellness. These included the

Each campaign offered free medical screenings, health education, and counseling sessions for laborers and community members. Students and faculty worked together to assess health parameters, provide guidance on nutrition and hygiene, and distribute educational materials. These initiatives reinforced GMU’s mission of improving access to healthcare and nurturing a culture of social empathy and inclusion.

Month of Giving – Food Donation Drive
In alignment with the spirit of Ramadan and community solidarity, GMU launched the Month of Giving Food Donation Drive. Faculty, students, and staff joined hands to collect and distribute essential food supplies to low-income families and workers in need. This initiative highlighted GMU’s dedication to addressing food insecurity and promoting social equity through collective action and compassion.

Iftar for GMU Students
GMU hosted an Iftar gathering for students during the holy month of Ramadan to promote unity, inclusion, and shared values. The event provided free meals and fostered a sense of community, particularly supporting students staying away from home during Ramadan ensuring that no student feels excluded or unsupported.

Fundraiser Concert and Karaoke
The event aimed to provide humanitarian aid and relief to vulnerable communities affected by hardship. GMU students demonstrated empathy, social responsibility, and solidarity with those facing poverty and crisis, reinforcing the university’s commitment to supporting global efforts to achieve No Poverty.

Financial Aid to Students from Lower income and Lower-Middle income countries
GMU has a policy on financial aid to students. GMU offers discount of tuition fee to students as and when applicable. GMU has signed MoUs with countries like Palestine, Syria, Yemen, etc. to offer special financial aid in the form of discounts to students from low-income economies or lower-middle income economies country.
