Annual Ramadan Food Collection Campaign at GMU
Gulf Medical University (GMU) upholds its commitment to generosity and social responsibility through its yearly Ramadan Food Collection Drive. This meaningful initiative goes beyond academic learning, bringing together students, faculty, staff, and the wider community during the holy month of Ramadan to gather non-perishable food supplies. The collected items are thoughtfully organized and distributed to individuals and families in need, demonstrating GMU’s spirit of compassion, unity, and service. By helping address food insecurity and supporting vulnerable communities, the campaign reinforces GMU’s dedication to nurturing a culture grounded in empathy, humanitarian values, and collective effort. This long-standing initiative reflects GMU’s ongoing mission to make a positive impact and uplift society through purposeful action.

Gulf Medical University hosted a series of vibrant cultural food festivals throughout the year, including the Jordanian & Palestinian Food Festival, Sudan Beats & Bites, Chuseok, Onam, and many more, each celebrating diverse culinary traditions and fostering cultural appreciation. These events not only offered students the opportunity to enjoy traditional cuisines and performances but also emphasized the values of gratitude, sharing, and community bonding that lie at the heart of these celebrations. By promoting awareness on the importance of food security, responsible food practices, and equitable access to nutritious meals, these festivals actively supported SDG 02 – Zero Hunger, inspiring students to appreciate diverse food cultures while recognizing the shared global responsibility to fight hunger and ensure sustainable food access for all.
Food Court at GMU in Collaboration with Thumbay Hospital
Gulf Medical University, in partnership with Thumbay Hospital, has established a modern and student-friendly food court designed to promote healthy living and support the well-being of the campus community. Featuring a wide range of restaurants and cafeterias, the food court offers nutritious and diverse dining options inspired by both Arab and Indian cuisines, ensuring access to wholesome meals at affordable prices. With extended service hours, dedicated lunch breaks for students and faculty, and meal plans available for staff, the facility ensures convenient access to balanced meals throughout the day. The menu offerings emphasize health and nutrition, including fresh and diet-friendly options to encourage mindful eating habits.
Set in a welcoming environment with spacious seating and a warm atmosphere, the food court serves as a vibrant hub for students, staff, and visitors to connect, dine, and relax. As part of the ‘Live & Learn’ concept at Thumbay Medicity, the space fosters social, academic, and professional engagement, strengthening the sense of community within the university. This initiative reflects GMU’s commitment to promoting holistic wellness, food accessibility, and a culture of healthy, happy living.
