The Thumbay Research Institute for Precision Medicine (TRIPM) is dedicated to advancing healthcare through innovation. It focuses on cancer and diabetes research, promoting personalized medicine and state-of-the-art technology. TRIPM supports SDG 9 by building resilient healthcare infrastructure and fostering collaboration among scientists, faculty, and clinicians. It's a leader in precision medicine, with the Zebrafish Facility for Cancer Research as an example of vital infrastructure investment. The Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness (QA&IE) portal plays a central role in GMU's mission to streamline data, assessment, and evaluation processes, improving the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of both educational and operational activities. By simplifying these processes, it supports sustainable industrialization within the institution and fosters innovation in academic infrastructure management and enhancement.

GMU’s Future Scientist Program

The “Future Scientists of the UAE” program is an innovative educational enrichment internship program initiated by Gulf Medical University in collaboration with GEMS International Schools. The aim of the program is to provide an opportunity for high school students to focus intensively on biomedical research.  The “Future scientists of the UAE” program is designed to attract talented and exceptionally motivated students and to nurture their interests in biology and biomedical research as a career. Through this program we aim to bring the excitement of the pursuit of science through knowledge and understanding of the biological world by following a systematic methodology based on evidence.

The GMU’s “Future Scientists of the UAE” program is a vibrant, productive, and memorable program. We were constantly and extremely impressed by the GEMS student talent. Students had relentless curiosity and motivation. Accordingly, we remain committed to train such ambitious minds and hope that this program will further enlighten them to discover biomedical research and its application in understanding and treating human disease.



Innovation in Medical Education with AI-Based Virtual Patient Learning (VPL)

Gulf Medical University’s VPL introduces AI-based technology and infrastructure for medical education, enhancing the resilience of educational systems and preparing students for the evolving healthcare industry.

Incorporating AI and innovative technology in medical education, the project contributes to sustainable industrialization by ensuring that medical professionals are equipped with the necessary skills for the future workforce.  The VPL fosters innovation by using AI and virtual patient learning to provide an authentic and immersive educational experience. It encourages students to think critically and develop communication skills while embracing technological advancements.

By expanding the use of AI-based virtual patient learning to various medical schools and countries, the project promotes access to innovative educational technology and infrastructure.  It’s commitment to continuous improvement, expansion, and the development of new scenarios demonstrates a dedication to research and development in the field of medical education.



Virtual Patient Learning (VPL) Product Training Session

Gulf Medical University's dedication to embracing innovative approaches in medical education is clearly exemplified through its VPL (Virtual Patient Learning) product training session.

By using advanced virtual patient learning technology, GMU shows its dedication to staying ahead in educational innovation. Through these training sessions, GMU not only equips its faculty and staff with the necessary skills but also plays a vital role in promoting the adoption of advanced technologies in the education sector.

This proactive stance on technology in education is a significant step toward advancing SDG 9.   • Global Health Initiatives: GMU actively supports global health initiatives, such as World Patient Safety Day and World Organ Donation Day. These initiatives emphasize the importance of healthcare infrastructure, patient welfare, and fostering a culture of safety within healthcare settings.

  • Health Awareness Campaigns: GMU engages with the community to spread awareness about important healthcare issues. This includes participation in events like World Rabies Day, World Alzheimer's Day, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. These initiatives not only educate the public about critical health concerns but also contribute to improving healthcare infrastructure by emphasizing early detection and prevention.

  • Cultural Celebrations: GMU takes part in cultural celebrations such as Iraqi Independence Day and Onam Harvest Festival. These events foster inclusivity and unity among various communities, contributing to social cohesion and ultimately supporting sustainable development.

  • Environmental Awareness: GMU promotes environmental consciousness through the Environment Club meetups and campaigns like World Water Day. These activities inspire environmental sustainability and responsible resource management, aligning with SDG 9's focus on industry, innovation, and infrastructure for sustainable development.

  • Health Awareness Campaigns: GMU actively participates in health awareness campaigns, such as those related to H. Pylori and Gastric Disorders, World Mental Health Day, and World Heart Day. These initiatives educate the public about health and well-being, an essential component of healthcare infrastructure development and sustainable development.

  • Cultural Diversity and Understanding: GMU actively engages with various student clubs and associations, such as the Pakistani Club and Egyptian Club. These engagements promote cultural diversity and understanding, essential elements of sustainable development and fostering inclusivity within communities.

  • Community Health Outreach: GMU's College of Pharmacy is involved in community outreach activities, including training students on First Aid and raising awareness about healthcare issues like Breast Cancer and World Diabetes Day. These activities contribute to a healthier community and support healthcare infrastructure development.

  • Collaboration with Local Organizations: GMU collaborates with local organizations, such as the Dubai Police - Resilience Forum. These collaborations address critical community issues and further the objectives of SDG 9 by contributing to infrastructure development and enhancing healthcare services.

  • Mentors Events and Conferences Est. :  This educational, training, and research collaboration supports innovation and knowledge exchange, aligning with SDG 9's objectives.

  • MVR Technologies LLC, Abu Dhabi:  Collaboration to develop scientific and cultural cooperation, research, and technology development aligns with the promotion of inclusive and sustainable industrialization and innovation (SDG 9).

  • Thumbay Labs:  Establishing a Center for Continuous Professional Development supports the enhancement of skills and knowledge, promoting sustainable development in healthcare and research.

  • LIFEPharma Dubai:  Developing academic and professional ties, enhancing teaching and learning, and advancing collaborative research contribute to building resilient healthcare infrastructure and fostering innovation.

  • University of Central Florida:  Joint collaborative activities, exchange of students, academic personnel, and research materials support knowledge exchange and innovation, aligning with SDG 9.
